The Cornish Clay Trail
Telling Cornwall's story through clay
The Cornish Clay Trail is an exciting community art project inviting 200 people from across Cornwall to tell their stories. Commencing August 2025, I’ll be delivering 20 free pottery workshops over 12 months, in partnership with local organisations. Within these sessions, participants will learn hand-building techniques before creating their own ceramic pieces on the theme of “My Cornish Life”, reflecting their identity, experiences, and sense of place.
These personal works will come together in a public exhibition in July 2026 to showcase the unique and varied experiences of those living in Cornwall today before being returned to their makers to keep.
The Goals of this project:
🎨 Engage 200 Cornwall residents in creative self-expression
🤝 Increase access to the arts for underrepresented groups
🗣️ Give voice to Cornish identity and experience
🏛️ Host a public exhibition of community-made ceramic art
🌱 Strengthen lasting community connections through creativity
Would you like to join a class? Invite us to your community group to host a workshop? Or perhaps you could help to deliver this project by volunteering your videography or organisational skills. I'd love to hear from you!
I'm looking to work with organisations including foodbanks, care homes, schools and support groups to reach those who could most benefit from involvement in this project.
